My name is Lieurene but I go by the name of Lilo. I am twenty-seven years old and was born and raised in California.  At the age of three, it was discovered that I was born profoundly deaf. Since then, I grew up with hearing aides and attended oral school. It wasn’t until I was in the seventh grade when I learned ASL. I graduated from college with a B.S degree in Biochemistry.  After graduating, I bravely decided to go out on an adventure. For as long as I can remember, I have always had that strong desire for wanderlust. And to my surprise I had no regrets.  In fact, it only added fuel to my growing passion for travel. I live by what my mother have always taught me, “Never let anything hold you back, not even your deafness”.

profileAt the age of two, I was diagnosed Deaf due to recurrent ear infections. I sometimes wear hearing aids. In spite of the diagnosis, I am proud of who I am. I enjoy reading, filming and taking photographs. There is one of the things I definitely don’t enjoy: bees!! After bad experiences, I’m actually deathly terrified of bees and wasps. I would literally run once I see it! P.S. you can see it in our first video, in a scene where Lilo and I were in the sunflower field.

Growing up, I often go to Mexico since my extended family resides there. Eventually, I had a chance to visit Hawaii, New York and Florida. Although it was only a short vacation, it perked wanderlust!  I’ve always been curious about what else this world has to offer.  After graduating as an undergrad, I took the opportunity to travel for two months in Asia. It was deafinitely worth it!

My name is Jillian.  I’m 22 years old from Los Angeles. I have a cochlear implant (CI) speech processor, but I still consider myself Deaf.  It does not hinder me from making achievements in life. One word: determination! I’m pursuing a degree in Grapic Design; I love doing arts and being creative—hold on a second, isn’t it getting a tad dull?  Let us get to the exciting part: traveling!  I’ve been to some states, but what has impressed me the most is a cross-country roadtrip I took.  On that day when leaving from New York, I realized that there are so much unknown adventures in America and all around world. How could I miss out? I believe traveling is truly worth the experience that helps you gain personal growth.

About us

Why did we create this blog?

The purpose of creating this blog is for you, both Deaf and Hearing communities! It is our goal in hope to inspire anyone to travel; most importantly, we want to inspire the Deaf communities due to multiple barriers. To our best abilities, we want to guide and help the Deaf communities. Additionally, we want to form an association between the Deaf and Hearing communities.

How do we know each other?

We practically went to the same middle school and high school, although we are a year or few years difference. We didn’t really grow close until our college years. We just immediately clicked (:

Why are there rabbit, snake and monkey icons?

We stand proud with our horoscopes, despite how silly it may seem to you. Lilo was born in the year of the rabbit and is a Leo, whereas Stacey was born in the year of the snake and is also a Leo. Jillian is their baby monkey, haha, and she is a Taurus. Don’t sweat it, we don’t judge people based on their horoscopes! It’s merely a pride thing and inside jokes between us. For example, Jillian sometimes sneakily takes people’s food – bam! a monkey…wait, a ninja monkey is even more badass. Stacey sometimes likes peeling off her skins after a bad sunburn because it feels “refreshing and reawaking”  – bam! A snake. Lilo, when she’s in a hurry, runs amazedly fast.  She even walks fast! – bam! A rabbit.
